Our Research History

Our research journey began with the St Vincent’s Centre for Immunology, established in 1983 from New South Wales’ first Clinical Immunology department. This foundation paved the way for our current research efforts.

In 2008, the St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research (AMR) was formed by merging the Centre for Immunology and the Clinical Trials Unit, marking a new era in medical research.

Today, the AMR is housed in the state-of-the-art Lowy-Packer Building, shared with the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Meanwhile our growing Clinical Trials Unit thrives in our Translational Research Centre, with trials running across our facilities.

From our beginnings to our current leadership in medical research, St Vincent’s continues to innovate and improve patient outcomes.
