Bio

Dr Simon Ghaly is a staff gastroenterology specialist and clinical lead of the inflammatory bowel disease service at St Vincent’s Hospital. Dr Ghaly graduated medicine with honours from the University of New South Wales. He completed his basic physician training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital before undertaking his specialist gastroenterology training at St George and St Vincent’s Hospitals. He then undertook a clinical and research fellowship at the Centre for Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Fremantle, where his research examined the role of vitamin D and ultraviolet radiation in altering the gut microbiome and immune system. Dr Ghaly is actively involved in the education of future medical professionals as a conjoint lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of New South Wales.
