The Cunningham Centre for Palliative Care is a palliative care education and research unit based within St Vincent’s Sacred Heart Service. The Centre leads St Vincent’s Palliative Care clinical research.
The Centre undertakes clinical research into the management of pain, nausea, constipation and breathlessness in palliative care settings. It also researches the best ways to provide psychological support to patients as well as innovative approaches to palliative care. It works collaboratively with a number of universities and organisations including but not limited to the University of Technology Sydney, University of Notre Dame Australia, the University of New South Wales and the Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative.
The Centre promotes evidence-based practice through health professional education, quality improvement activities, and the integration of research outcomes into clinical practice and policies.
