Fee Policy & Schedule

All submissions received by the Research Office align with the NSW Health Fee Schedule for Research Ethics and Governance Review of Clinical Trials linked below.

This policy was updated in July 2025, and applies to all submissions received by the Research Office on or after 1 July 2025. 

Note:

  • The Fee policy applies to all Clinical Trials with an external sponsor (commercial or non-commercial)
  • There is no charge for investigator-initiated NSW Health Public Health Organisation sponsored clinical trials
  • There are no fees applied to research projects that are not clinical trials

Prior to Submission for Ethics or Governance Review

  • The Fee Payment Form must be completed in full, AND 
  • This Fee Payment Form must be submitted to the SVH RO via email (svhs.research@svha.org.au), AND
  • A Fee Payment Reference (FPR) number must be issued to you via email
  • Submissions for externally sponsored clinical trials that do not include the email confirming the assigned FPR number/s will be rejected

For an Initial Submission: The email stating the assigned FPR number/s must be included in your initial submission and the assigned FPR number/s must be listed in the submission cover letter

For Amendments: The email stating the assigned FPR number/s must be included with your submission

Note:

  • Payments can be made via invoice, Credit Card or internal transfer (where applicable)
  • Credit Card payments can be made online through our Research Office Payment Portal 
  • All submission review fees are in accordance with NSW Health Fee Policy Guideline

Infrastructure Fee

St. Vincent’s Hospital charges an infrastructure fee on all research projects.

Infrastructure charges relate to those that cannot be identified readily (or specifically) with a particular sponsored project. These include maintaining and operating the Hospital’s facilities and services including, but not limited to:

  • Clinical, laboratory and office space to conduct research and clinical trials activities;
  • Utilities including water, electricity, heating, gas and air conditioning;
  • Corporate support services including accounting, purchasing, payroll, human resources and legal counsel.
