Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) 

The St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney HREC is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) accredited, certified HREC which operates under the National Mutual Acceptance Scheme (NMA).

The St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney HREC will undertake an ethical and scientific review of human research applications involving adults over the age of 18, to be conducted at public and private health sites nationally.

The St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney HREC operates under the requirements set out by the NHMRC. All research involving humans must conform to the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2025) and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018).

The St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney HREC does not review early phase clinical trials. As per NSW Health’s Early Phase Clinical Trials HRECs Scheme, all early phase clinical trials must be reviewed by either Bellberry HREC (adults) and/or another approved NSW HREC.
