Site Specific Assessment Applications (STE/SSA)
Site Specific Assessment (STE/SSA) applications are required for any research project to commence at a site for which the St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Research Office provides governance oversight. This includes:
- St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney
- St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney
- The Mater Hospital Sydney
- Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
These STE/SSA applications undergo governance review by the St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Research Governance Officer (RGO). Governance review involves the evaluation of the risk that the conduct of the study poses to the organisation and includes but is not limited to the review of study budget, staff, contracts, Head of Department (HoD) support and assessment of risk to institutional reputation.
Managing STE/SSA Applications
- STE/SSA applications for St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney (a Public Health Organisation (PHO)) are managed via REGIS.
- STE/SSA applications for Private sites (St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney, the Mater Hospital Sydney and Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute) are managed via email.
STE/SSA involves the following:
- Review of HREC approval (either by St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney HREC or another Certified Lead HREC), HREC approved documents,
- Review of the STE/SSA form
- Review of study budget
- Review of research agreements
- Review of insurance and indemnity arrangements.
